We are currently looking for a New Product Development Strategic Buyer to join our team.

Your role as NPD Strategic Buyer is to directly facilitate the launch of new and revised products by managing and executing purchasing activities through the Product Development process. You will fulfill project deliverables by coordinating between Project Teams and Strategic, Tactical, and Aftermarket Purchasing and Supplier Quality to deliver purchased content and material at the best possible price and conditions. You will be the direct GPSC liaison to assigned NPD projects. As such you will be both program manager for all project related purchasing activities and key support for Strategic Commodity Teams.
Approximately 70% of the product cost is defined in the Product Development Process (PDP). It is therefore of utmost importance to have full integration of GPSC in the product development process, securing:
  • New Programs @ Right Quality, Right Time, Right Cost
  • Right Resources Dedicated to The Project
  • On-time Completion of Defined Deliverables
  • Quality of Engineering / Design / Services / Technology
  • Design to Cost vs. Cost of Design
Under the supervision of the NPD Purchasing Manager, your missions will include the following:
  1. Fulfill all GPSC deliverables for all assigned NPD projects.
  2. Manage cross functional information flow between internal GPSC departments for assigned NPD projects.
  3. Coordinate engagement with engineering and other non-GPSC functional groups for assigned NPD projects.
  4. Facilitate implementation of each commodity’s landscape plan as it relates to assigned NPD projects.
Tasks inherent to these responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. Act as the sparring partner for engineering. Assure early involvement of suppliers (new techniques, developments, and information) by acting as a sparring partner for the various engineering disciplines.
  2. Facilitate early supplier involvement contacts.    
  3. Assure proper involvement of (Global) Strategic Buying community.  
  4. Manage the on-time execution of GPSC-milestones in the Product Development Process.
  5. Perform continuous risk management. Perform studies on alternative solutions and develop mitigation plans to “design” the risk out of the overall process.
  6. Support the Tooling & Mule/Proto/Pilot Parts ordering process. Place orders directly, either manually or via MRP system, if no NPD Tactical Buyer support is not available.
  7. Ensure PPAP submission and approval for all constituent new and revised purchased parts.
  8. Execute timely follow up on the CN-processes in strong collaboration with Engineering  
  9. Execute Cost Management. Controlling and managing cost level belongs also to one of the primary tasks of GPSC.
  10. Secure data integrity. Secure adequate and punctual (initial) ordering to prevent additional workload in corrections (invoices etc.). In case of deviations quick resolution.
  11. Administrative tasks. Reporting: PFEP reporting, GPSC Project Management reporting, Sourcing plan, Risk, Management reports, Supplier readiness reports, CN-status reporting.
Other duties as assigned by line manager.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in purchasing or related field
  • Internship experience
  • English fluency, spoken and written
  • Other languages are an advantage (especially Romanian, French, Dutch, German, Italian)
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Technical background to be able to spar with engineering
  • Understand Strategic Supply Chain Management
  • In-depth knowledge of purchasing processes
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Detail focused and possessing strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze situations and react in timely manner
  • Flexibility with proactive attitude and willingness to get the job done
  • Good general PC application skills
